"Kitty in the Cabin" Quilt
Take a look at the quilt Thea James was working on during her first adventure as an amateur sleuth. It’s possible, dear reader, for you to make the same quilt. Aunt Elena has kindly given permission for the author to include her original quilt design, “Kitty in the Cabin”, in the back of
A Vase of Mistaken Identity and provided instructions, as well.
The completed quilt is small. Thea crafted it for her cat’s napping comfort, although I sense she won’t want to risk Betty’s sharp claws destroying her hours of tireless stitchery. It will look nice as a wall hanging, thank you very much. Because this was Thea’s first quilting attempt, Aunt Elena designed a beginner’s pattern, based on the combination of an old-fashioned Log Cabin and a Nine-Patch. The quilt fabric in the prototype is 100% cotton and, except for the cats, 1940’s reproduction – in keeping with the atmosphere of nostalgia that permeates Larkindale. Reproduction prints are available at most fabric stores. Have fun!
The finished quilt!

"Kitty in the Cabin" quilt prototype pieced and hand-quilted by quilter extraordinaire, Linda Gholson. Great job!
